Emergency First Aid At Work (previously Appointed Person)


PASMA
St John's Ambulance is recognised as being the UKs leading first aid providers, with multiple locations across the UK. First Aid training can be provided at any of these locations, or onsite at customer premises.

RSC Training offers first aid courses through St John's Ambulance to provide a practical skill set required by those persons whose responsibilities include being a First Aider in the workplace.

On successful completion delegates will receive a Nationally Recognised certificate (valid 3 years).


PASMA Towers For Users Training Course Booklet
Course Summary

Duration: 1 day, typically starting at 8.30AM

Maximum Instructor/Delegate Ratio: 1:12

Delivery Method: Classroom based theory, including practical exercises

Course Prerequisites: None, but a basic understanding of first aid is beneficial

Assessment: Continual Observation & Written Assessment

Qualification: A nationally recognised St John's Ambulance Certificate, valid for 3 years

Awarding Body: St John's Ambulance

PPE Requirements: None, but advised to wear comfortable clothing for practical exercises


Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at persons whos work includes or will include the need for a basic level of skill required to cover where a risk assessment indicates that there is a person with first aid training is available in the workplace to cover emergency situations only.

Course Content

Throughout the course delegate will gain a better understanding of the following topics and be required to pass these assessments:

  • The Role of the First Aider
  • Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations
  • Managing an Emergency
  • Communication and Casualty Care
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Choking (Adult)
  • Resuscitation (Adult CPR)
  • Seizures (Adult)
  • Shock
  • Unresponsive Casualty
  • Defibrillator Prompts, Responses and Pad Placement
  • Written Assessment
